The Post Office of Stickley was located on the John Leuthold Ranch. It was moved to its present location and renamed Molt in 1917. Molt is situated on a tract of land donated by Mr. & Mrs. Rudolph Molt.

Herschel Slavens once said, "About our only claim to fame is that Molt was one of the top communities in our nation in the purchase of War Bonds per unit of population during World War II." He further stated "that another oddity is that it has never had a liquor establishment in it."
